Wife wanted in on the action...
« on: July 12, 2017, 06:17:03 AM »
The wife wanted to shoot a hog this morning so we got up at 5:30 and started glassing the soybean fields.  It was still a little too dark so we waited 15 minutes and glassed again.  Sure enough, there was a sow with a few 20 pounders with her near the rear of the property.  We grabbed our stuff and started walking directly toward them in the middle of the field.  As we got within 250 yards I just happened to look over my shoulder and saw this boar trotting along the waterway heading toward the swamp.  So we re-focused our attention on the sow, but she knew something wasn't right and quickly jetted into the swamp.  We decided to wait a bit to see if the boar would reappear through a group of trees looking for the sow.  Sure enough, he comes out with his nose high in the air.  I tried getting the wife's attention, but she was already focused on him and let her .243 ring.  He dropped on the spot!  He actually has a pretty good size of cutters.  I would estimate his weight around 225 -250.

Time to start a pool for how many Mr & Mrs Ben will knock off this summer - I'm guessing 15 at the rate they're going.

Well done!
