He thought I was a girl!!!
« on: April 12, 2017, 01:36:47 PM »
So I shot him for trying to come in and strut for me! Fine two year old. Had a little over an 11 inch beard. Gobbled strong on the roost and went silent when he hit the ground for about thirty minutes. I could hear some hens with him and decided to go try another spot out. Walked back up the hill and down an old loggin road and cut a few times and he answered me. This time he sounded a little bit closer than before so I ventured back out about 150 yards his direction. Yalked one more time and he about blew my hat off just below the rise in the hill. I had to hit the dirt immediately about 30 yards from where I called. Gave him a little soft yelp to let him know I was a little over from what he thought I was and he gobbled as he was topping the hill. He had a couple buddies with him and a I gave him a face full of magnum blend at 30 yards! It never ceases to amaze me how it can go from zero to one hundred so fast. When they want to die, they just want to die! Gosh I love turkey hunting.
