We have power and water!!

That step is now done. Bug covered the trench with the power conduit and water lines on Sunday and the power company came on Monday and set the pole and made it hot. It has been a long and tiring process to get utilities hooked up. All of the crazy requirements and inspections had me pulling my hair out. But its done and now I can sit out on the porch under the ceiling fan...

On to plumbing...

Looks like a great porch to have a bbq and a few adult cocktails.

well, the first test is coming. Whats left of Harvey is heading our way. We are expecting to get 4 to 8 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. As you can see from the map, I have rivers on two sides of my cabin and a pond in front. 17 ft is flood stage. 24 ft is probably bad for me. They are saying the green river could get to 25 ft. I've done what I could so we will just have to wait and see...

at around 2:30 in the video you can see my pond and it is flooded....

Say a little prayer for me...

Hopefully the storm will lose most of its water before it approaches your property and the rain amounts are exaggerated. Good luck and hopefully the waters won't rise too bad.

Good luck - mother nature is gonna do what she's gonna do - prepare as best you can & then get ready to deal with whatever happens.  If the areas around you aren't too waterlogged already, maybe the runoff won't be so bad & river levels will fall short of their predictions - Hang in there HM!

good luck. water is a powerful force. after 2 years, the flooding still has at least 25% of the roads closed at my cabin

definitely dodged a bullet. The water got to within 20 feet of the cabin so no worries. I also learned more about how the river rising actually affects my property. Its only a manner of time before we get hit with a big flood there that does get in but for now, we are good.
