New Pond
« on: April 05, 2017, 10:49:23 AM »
Back in November, I bought 12 acres, 13 miles from the house, that had a 3 acre pond on it. My 6 year old grandson loves to fish with me and I have always wanted a nice pond. hope to build a cabin on it this summer.

We didnt fish it any during the winter and yesterday was our first official fishing trip. Jake, my wife and I headed over there around 10 am with a john boat and some worms. Fishing was slow because it still hasn't warmed up a lot yet but we caught a few and had a great time. Jake caught a small crappie and a few bluegill with worms. I caught a big crappie with a jig and the wife caught a few bluegill. She hung into a big bowfin (never heard of these until I moved to Kentucky) but it cut the line as we were getting it into the boat. it was probably 3 lbs. big ugly dude!

Looks great, both the pond and the shirtsleeve weather.  35 mph winds with a chance of snow here tonight - the poor ducks on my new pond are looking kinda seasick riding the waves out there.
One of God's greatest gifts to us is
the great outdoors - get out there
and enjoy it!

Me, bugfixer and the wives spent the afternoon and evening at the pond today. The wives brought in some bluegills and bug and I wore out the crappie. He caught two slabbers. probably 1  1/2 lbs each. Wasn't keeping them today so they went back in. Ill post some pics tomorrow

Bowfin Fish is a prehistoric fish ( don't try to lip me into the boat)
