Spring Gobbler Season on the Horizon!
« on: February 18, 2017, 05:54:22 PM »
Weather has been warm here 50-60's. Got one of my new turkey decoys out back to see how it moves in the wind. Starting to watch turkey hunting videos (Primos from last year). Getting the bug early this year. Actually never lost it from last year. I love to turkey hunt!!!

We open April 18th and you are right, more winter coming. We had a major snow storm some years ago in March, then heavy rains immediately following. It was a flooded mess!

I'm looking forward to turkey season, too.  I don't participate in the draw, and wait till I can purchase my tag OTC.  That won't be till March 20, and my season starts in very early May, and lasts till the end of the month.  I really enjoy being in the woods during that time of the year.

I hunt with my bro in law on his place right along the Mississippi.  Not unusual to be flooded out for the year, or to have to boat in to a patch of high ground to hunt.  First season down there starts on April 3, a little over a month away.  If the weather holds, should be able to get there without difficulty.  Last year was the first dry year in recent memory for the spring hunt.

I put in for my NJ tags, hunting Saturday only. Place where I have access to has not had Toms on it for many years so I keep at it. I would not want to hunt Public land here

I will have to wait for later in MD season as we will be on a cruise April 23-30

March 15 for me. I'll be headed out for the first few days of season hoping to find one ready. I've gotten pretty solid reports already of some good gobblin... of course it being 70 everyday helps with that.

Our season comes in April 26th. They are gobbling big time right now. Hope they don't nest early.

I'm afraid they will be done before the season comes in this year. When the woods get leafed out they pretty much go silent because of the bobcats stalking them. A bobcat pounced on my decoy last year----was in and out so fast i couldn't even get my gun up!!
We can't kill them yet in Indiana, but they are getting thick now, so they may open a season on them.

Once again our season starts a couple months after everyone else has finished spring turkey hunting. April 29 is opening day in PA this year I do believe and runs through May to Memorial Day.  @--0--0127
