Alabama January 2018 !!!
« on: January 30, 2017, 03:33:40 PM »
Well, you know my best buddy died a bit back. He always invited me to hunt his place in Sumter County, Alabama A/K/A Heaven   @--0--0124

He knew had far I drove so he was lenient to let me take a six pointer towards the end of the week so I could go back with something. Most time it was an 8 pointer, rare occassion i got a 10 pointer and maybe once or twice in 20+ years a six pointer.

The time we had was worth more than any trophy but nice to go home with any venison. We did our own butchering to boot. The whole trip was just a total experience with just three old boys having fun. Way back when before he built his spread we stayed in a singke wide in Geiger. It was fun although a potential fire trap. Good thing I was there in case --099-780

Well, after he died the radio went silent. Contact with the family trailed off.

So, over the past few years I tried to book a deer hunt in January with the Montgomery Lions Club. No luck. Finally, being a professional pest I got in when they opened the books for January 2018 hunt. From the photos the bucks taken are ok at this Charity Hunt, most seem around 6 pts with some bigger.

My main motivations were to a) get back to Bama b) get to rifle hunt again, something you CAN NOT do in commie Jerzey  c) just enjoy the Montgomery area. For at least 2 1/2 + decades i took my sons there to the Buckmasters Convention in August. My son took his hunter Ed while at the convention.

I only hunted  Turkey around Montgomery once way back when. Also, awesome.

So, I am finally all booked and get to stay on the property to boot. Limited availability to do that. No sense having this old foogie oversleep and miss a morning hunt if I had to stay off property.

I am excited!

When I lived in Greenville Alabama, the private school there, Fort Dale Academy, sold hunts to raise funds for the school. My club was one of those who donated hunts. You might try to give them a call....

Very nice! PM me any info and I will check it out. Sad that my free days of hunting 'Bama are over. Ain't easy doing these paid deals but at least the Lions deal helps folks with poor eyesight.
