Spring Turkey Season 2017 Georgia
« on: January 02, 2017, 09:44:39 AM »
I need a countdown clock! Deer season only 6 weeks left but then off to Georgia for Spring Turkey. I will be there the last week of March. If my 2016 turkey mount is not done and shipped back ny then I will pick it up. Not sure I can top last year's Tom but a guy can always dream! -0078

Thanks. I will drive down. I just hunt there myself. To make up for that I have to take the better half on a cruise late April. Than goodness  I bought the adult beverage package for the cruise,  I'll need it ##$%#114

My spring turkey season won't start till May, it's the private land hunting only.

Our Spring season always opens on April 18th but we also have a winter season. Yes, I said winter! It runs January 19th through 21st with a turkey of either sex. It works better on the Eastern end of the state here in Maryland rather than the western end where the wind chills can run in the single digits or below zero. You work it the same as the fall season as to break up the flock and then call them back in. I might try it this season just to get some more woods time!

Just applied for my spring turkey permit a few days ago, hoping to draw for first season in the southern zone again.  Weather can be dicey, but you can usually get the Toms to respond better to the call early.

Deer season ended here yesterday, I'm still not done cutting up my doe and I'm already suffering from hunting withdrawal.

I will do some ice fishing but it is not the same.

I have a lifetime Georgia Sportsman's license so i dont need anything, just hunt. I just booked the Mariott for the trip down and back. Free using my Mariott points. I will stay in Charlotte to/fom Georgia so the main drive only ~8 hours. Doing thar in daylight is a cinch. My trips to Alabama back in the good old days was a 16 hour drive if I did it non-stop. Bever did. 10 to 12 hours is about all I can do if the weather is perfect. Did that trip several times to Bama in some good snow storms. I sure miss hunting Sumter County!
