I have a treadmill in my office and I walk at least 1 mile, 3 to 4 days a week. Sometimes I walk more than a mile and am trying to work back up to 2 miles, 5 times a week. I set the treadmill for 2 mph for about 5 minutes to warm up, then I change it to 3 mph. When I reach my distance or time goal, I change it back to 2 mph for a cool off walk for about 3 or 4 minutes. I generally walk for about 30 to 40 minutes. To make it easier, I set my tablet on the treadmill and watch videos while I walk.

Sometimes I run to the fridge if I'm really hungry but not that often. Don't want to over do it.

I have an irregular exercise program.  I try towalk 2.5 miles 3+ days a week, usually during my late lunch break to help reduce stess.

During the summer I do a lot of yard work and work around the house and cabin wbich keeps me active.  I do other workouts but not as regularly as I should.

One thing I have learned from some trainers is that a scheduled workout does more than normal or even heavy activity. The reason behind it is the heart and metabolism. When you walk (fast walk is even better) for a set time or distance, your heart rate gets up and your metabolism jump starts (and stays there) more so than with just activity. You can walk (at a pretty good clip) for 30 minutes and do more good than heavy yard work for an hour or even two. One of the reasons is because with normal, outdoor activity, there is usually a minute or two, here and there, where you stop or move to something less strenuous. This allows the heart to slow back down and the metabolism to slow as well. You are still burning calories but not doing much for the heart or metabolism. I am not saying outdoor activity doesn't help or isn't great, but it doesn't help as much as a scheduled exercise regime.

As with any exercise, you should see a doctor first. SERIOUSLY!!  If I had started an exercise program in December of 2013, it would have killed me because I had no idea that I had a 97 percent blockage in my main heart artery (widow maker artery). I would have had a massive heart attack and fell over dead. Go see a doc, get them to check you out, then get to walking...

I normally lift 3 times per week and walk 2-3 times. since my elbow has been messed up, it's all walking. I hope to get back to lifting in a month or 2. I can feel and see my muscle leaving and I don't like it

I'm GTG on that front, just had a small scare myself a few months back, abnormal EKG.   Saw the cardiologist, ran several stress tests, etc. and could not find anything out or order. I expected the worst as my dad has had heart issues and has had several stints over the years.  Turns out it was just an anomaly in the EKG reading, which I have learned happens quite frequently.  Dr said he was sorry to say they we will not be meeting again for quite some time.

Despite my size and workout schedule, I have managed to run multiple mud runs (Warriar Dash/Zombie Run), 2 10 mile runs and several 5k's in the last few years.   My weight is still an issue but that has been a roller coaster ride for me.

I cut fire wood, work in the garden, work on food plots and in general , just keep busy! Walking these hills will do more for you than a tredmill.

I walk every other day and started weight training/high repetition on the off days.

I started because I needed to lose weight and my god daughter is getting married in Phoenix in September (elevation ~5000ft) with 110 degrees temp and I want to survive!!

The walking sounds mundane but actually here in the Catskills two thirds of my route are along a grade of 35-40 degrees or better.  I power walk it as I call it, tried to run but the pounding at my age seems like too big a risk.

Also started high repetition weight training on the off days to lose weight, build muscle tone and work cardio.

Just added a speed bag.  Don't know how much good it does but I loved it back in collage and it adds variety to my routine.

As mentioned in another thread, I'm also on a healthy diet now.
