day on the croix-UPDATED
« on: July 30, 2016, 04:59:40 PM »
I took out my buddies 16 yr old boy Thursday. we only got 2 walleyes. the Croix is 5-6' high so fish are tough to find.

today I took my wife out. she like to read and enjoy the river. I didn't find a walleye until 10:30. I boated 12 by 1:00 and not a keeper. still fun. we had a bet on if I could tell a walleye bite from the rest(sheephead, sunny, rock bass...) not that i'm a gambler, but I came out very well. she thought it was all smoke screens and mirrors. i'm sure I caught 30-40 fish total. fed the eagles some rough fish. they were happy. it was a good day. 82 w/ light wind. can't beat that

I think we will do it again tomorrow

Sounds like a great day on the water...82 degrees with a light breeze would be wonderful down here this time of year. It was 95 and humidity was off the chain!

My wife wanted to repeat it today. same temp and congestion as yesterday. tuna boats were in full force. it started slow. by 11:00 I got my 1st keeper. 3 more followed quickly. we had to pick up Emily from work or i'm sure the 6 limit was soon to come. boat control was tough w/ all the big boats, but I managed. gotta like the midday walleye bite on the river

great weekend, that wasn't planned. I was supposed to be planting, but i'm not complaining. worked out great

I realize planting is important and needs to be done timely but let's see...fishing or planting? Which one, which one? Okay, fishing!!!
