« on: July 28, 2016, 08:16:33 AM »
This picture was taken on a deer lease about 3 miles from my house in So. Md. Md DNR confirmed it is a Black Bear!! I thought they would deny it surprise for me!! There was another 85 lb cub hit by a car in St Mary's county just south of us this week. Maybe we'll get a Bear season before too long

Yea the DNR said the road kill cub swam across the river looking for a new home. I think it followed his Momma it only weighed 85lbs. The river 2 miles wide by me and wider the further down you go so I have my doubts they swam but I guess it's possible. My theory is they walked down from Pa or Delaware on the Patuxent  river basin. A few years ago we had a bigger one in St Mary's and they tagged it with a radio collar. They track it all the way back to Baltimore where it was getting into people's trash so they caught it and relocated it to Western Md.

I almost hit a 300 pounder last fall about a mile from my house on the road and I have seen several different ones of all sizes int he fields and walking down the orad in front of my house.
