found a bag of seed....
« on: April 25, 2016, 04:58:10 PM »
I believe it is oats a half of a 80 # bag...I stored high in the basement...Well I was raking rocks out of the plot with the  York rake and came home thinking what to do...So I hit the woods trail behind the house and tore it up good...Then went and spread the oat seed on most of the trail plot...I have a small section to finish but I wanted to scratch it in real good before the rains so used the hand landscape rake...Oh man the rocks...but got it done...500ftx12ft..... it hurts to breath deep or yawn...lol
I put so much seed down that it would take the crows and turkey a long long time to eat if they find it...so I should have a nice green carpet to throw some clover of turnips in.

Well we'll see...one of the big Tom 's brought his 3 hens in to feed through the woods, they hit the trail plot . They spent 20 mins on one small section before moving up thorough the barren  corn field. Fun to watch because one of the hens preferred working for her dinner, she  stayed in the leaf litter scratching and pecking. Probably hopper are her preference.

Hope it comes up sounds like you threw enough seed to let the wildlife have some and still get some growing. Send pics when it greens up.

Thanks ..lets hope. It is raining and foggy here ...good thing is being close to turkey season this is an area I have a deer blind in but I have never turkey hunted...Thankfully the birds have been at 3 other plot blinds in the a.m. and really like that area in the late mornings / afternoons. I never hunt past 9:30 - 10a.m. anyways...seeing I get out in the wood at 4:30 I'm to tired to hunt till noon..lol

Glad to hear you're getting rain, sorry to hear about the frost though.  We keep missing the showers.  Windy and 80 here yesterday, with 45% humidity, stuff is drying out in a hurry.
One of God's greatest gifts to us is
the great outdoors - get out there
and enjoy it!
