"Beck Bouys Classic" fishing tournment pictures...
« on: April 12, 2016, 05:07:22 PM »
It's hard to believe that this was our 38th year having this tournament. I was 25 years old the first year in 1978. Time sure flies. When we started we fish a new lake just about every year. We've fished Dale Hollow, Gunterville, Pickwick, Seminole, Clark Hill, Hartwell, Lanier, Jackson, Walter F. George, West Point and several more. We started fishing Lake Oconee back in 1995 and everyone just fell in love with that lake as it has more bass per square acre than any lake in Georgia. The guys from Kentucky want to fish it every year as it's nothing to catch 30 plus bass a day. I must admit it's my favorite lake also. Metalman and myself came in second this year with 48 pounds and the winners had 54 pounds. It was just an awesome week on the lake even with some pretty heavy winds a few days.

A few more pictures. The first is a 5 fish limit of 19 pounds 14 oz with a 6 pound 10 oz bass and a 5 1/2 pounder caught by the winners.

We had five boats and ten guys. Everyone had boat trouble other than Metalman and myself.

It was a great week, with a few heartbreaking moments when splittoe and I lost a few hogs. Tried some new lures and worms with great success and gained a few pounds.

if you haven't tried lizards or creature baits, you need some. they are hog catchers. you might not get as many fish, but the fish you catch are normally worth the weight. I've won the tournament up here the last few years on a jig and creature bait. there are too many northern pike to get away w/ lizards. they gobble them up. congrats on a great weekend
