NC Hog hunt update
« on: March 02, 2016, 10:57:11 AM »
Well I went to NC last Thursday and hunted 3 evening hunts for hogs. There was a lot of water every where but it wasn't very deep. My buddy and I saw the same 7 deer everyday but they were entertaining to watch. We saw the same 5 lb orange raccoon every sit again entertaining. my buddy saw these bacon bits on Thursday evening and they were at my stand for 2.5 hours on Sat evening. So we didn't see any pigs big enough to shoot, we didn't feel 1 10# piglet a piece was a good deal so of course we past on the opportunities LOL! The Cabin we stayed in was very nice and only cost 10 bucks a day! All in all I had a good time. We hunted in the Neuse River area off of SR-701 near Four Oaks NC. We probably should have waited for better conditions but we thought the water would concentrate the pigs some- it probably did just not where we were hunting  ;D

It's been said may times before, it's not always about the kill as much as it is about the hunt, fellowship and the experiences along with lessons learned, BUT my goodness brother, passing up on some bacon bits? Are you nuts? LOL

BLUETOE,
You were not that far from me hunting near the start of the Neuse River flood plain.  I am down stream on the Neuse just below the islands, about 8 miles East from Bentonville Battle Ground.  Lots of hogs Richardson Bridge road (next road to cross Neuse River East of 701) and West in area you hunted.  The Neuse has been high for awhile due to water release from the Falls Lake Dam north of Raleigh area.

When we go back PJ I'll look you up and have dinner or something. Our guide told us the water release. That and the all the rain you all had that week made it very wet. Still had a good time though.
