crappies
« on: February 21, 2016, 10:03:06 AM »
crappie dinner tonight. the only sad thing is it took me 2 trips to get enough for dinner. the 'bite window' is soooo tight right now. it's only 20-30 minutes right at sunrise and sunset. until then and after that the fish are just lookers. craziest bite I've seen

anyway, kept four 11-12 1/2" crappies Monday and 5 10-11" crappies last night. 2 different lakes w/ very similar results.

our ice up here has been terrible. I walked out while everyone else drove. some places are 18", but a lot of places only 5-6". I don't mind getting wet in the summer, but not in the winter. I head for vacation on Wednesday so this might be my last time on ice. the warmer temps are degrading the ice fast.

keep your lines tight!!!!!!!!

That's the best eating fish the is to me. It's got to be spawning time here, it's been so warm here the last few days.

I remember years ago catching something like 14-15 crappies that measured about 11"-12", with a cane pole, off a dock!  Apparently, a small school came in, and I was, there at the right time.  Never caught another crappie there, either off the dock or,anywhere on that lake.

my son tells me the ice is iffy here as well....he was out sat night and they caught 17 walleye all around 3 lbs.  right at the end he hooked into a 14.2 lb walleye.this was in a small back lake which is a huge fish here.because of size laws here he had to release it after several pics.

Yari, 2 guys fell through the ice here in Indiana on an old limestone pit. They found one body today and are still looking for the other one.

We don't know anything about ice in South Louisiana, except in mixed drinks. @--0--0120
