2014 bear results
« on: February 20, 2016, 09:54:41 AM »
it took 1 1/2 years to finally get the age back on my bear. I was surprised to find he was only 9 1/2 years old. he looked like his body was past prime. his chest was 'sunk in' instead of his body being round in appearance. I figured he would have been completely round after all the 'goodies' I fed him

at 9 1/2 years, he could have been around my place his entire life. heck, he could have been one of the cubs we pulled from it's den when we took part in the hibernation research project for UW Stevens Point. I wish there was a way to tell that. that would be ironic

he has fed us well. I'm down to 2 packs of beacon, which was my favorite. jalapeno brats are gone. garlic and onion brats are still here. plenty of jerky left(my dad wanted this, but decided it was too chewy) and some roasts left. I might just make the rest of the roasts into more beacon. did I mention the beacon was great? boo boo was very popular

I would think they would catalog the DNA when they do the den research. This would give them hard data on where they started and finished their lives. That to me would be interesting. You know the way the DNR thinks up hear yari, and I use "thinks" loosely.

I had six points. Will be hunting just north of Ladysmith. I guess you would say self guided. Treestand is provided along with the bait from the guide service.

I believe you are 1 zone south of my place. I wish It was only 6 pts at my place. I can't wait to hear how it goes.

so are they baiting for you then?
