What a late morning!!!  It started around 10:30 AM when I noticed four hogs in my food plot about 700 yards away.  I couldn't believe it, they never come out this time of day.  My wife and I rode down there on the golf cart and eased down the remaining 200 yards on foot.  When we got within 100 yards of them when a blue crane (great blue heron) took off which out of the swamp which startled one of the hogs.  She got nervous and began to trot off as I was waiting for my wife to shoot.  I kept telling her to shoot (I still do not know why she was waiting) as they were only 20 yards from the swamp woodline.  I couldn't take it anymore, I let the SKS hammer down.  However, it appears I couldn't hit he broadside of a barn with it as I missed all 10 rounds.  It ended up being 4 sows and 9 piglets.  We drove the golf cart back home and put our lounging clothes back on.  Within 10 minutes I noticed a "brown wave of piglets" running across the field 100 yards from the house.  I ran to the safe and grabbed the AR-15 and ran outside.  When they balled up, I let lead fly.  I ended up with four 20 pounders as I believe there were 18 in the whole group.  There wasn't enough meat on them to consume and I really don't care for wild hog anyway.  Now I have a pile of bacon to coyote hunt over.

Good going. I've heard the little ones make for good baby back ribs but I've never tried them.
