here and almost gone
« on: November 15, 2015, 05:06:25 PM »
remember when I was counting my chickens back in September? I had my buck pegged and tagged. man did things go south!!!! I saw my first buck since then. A 2 POINTER(spike) that was it. plenty of does and fawns again. 6-8" of snow. lots of bear tracks.(go to bed already) only one good buck on cam at dark thirty

i'm a bad hunter this year I guess. i'm totally stumped. I haven't even seen a chase by a small buck? i'll have to venture farther out I guess during gun season. I've done nothing hunting around does. I've had multiple does and fawns around at most sits. very odd

good luck to all. I hope to get out once or twice this week if work permits

I blame it to the El Nino year yari, this year was nothing compared to last year.
Good luck on the this coming weekend gun hunt, be safe!!

This has been a very odd year...We've had lots and lots of rain the past 4 weeks. It's really messed up the rut and I'm thinking it's going to be later than normal this year.

I think the rut is late around this area is late, too, although a Michigan guy in another forum posted the bucks were seen chasing does in his area.  I think he lives a little further north from me.

In my neck of the woods I am having problems seeing much for does. I think I am seeing 3 to 4 bucks to every doe. Past years I would see 10 or so does to every buck. I have watched several 2 1/2 year or older bucks dogging yearlings this past weekend. Very odd for this area.

Its the opposite for me so far. I've only hunted 3 days so far.  And hunted all day long all three days.  I saw 0 doe's.  Every deer I saw were young bucks.  Strange.

Keep your chin up Yari.  Just when you think you have them pegged they have their way of showing how unpredictable they are.  I still think hunting where the doe's are is a good strategy.  IF you have a lot of elevation change you might try high in the AM and low in the PM.

Strange year indeed. Last year at this time we had 3 feet of snow dumped on my cabin and got stuck trying to get in before turning back. Yesterday I hunted opening day in nothing more than a hoodie as it was in the 60's.

it's supposed to be very nasty all week. high wind and rain / snow by the end of the week. i'm sure glad it's not snow so far. we'd have many feet of snow in the last week. we'll see what happens

Not much rutting action here in Oklahoma even with ice pellet storms and cold temperatures.
I went out last weekend and saw nothing but does!                           %^$^
