Snow and rain for blackpowder opener here in northern NY
« on: October 17, 2015, 08:13:11 AM »
got uo to 35 degrees with a rain/snow mix coming down, not the weather I was hoping for to start our muzzle loader season off. Decided not to go out unless it clears up and warms up a bit, I already have a cold and don't need to get wet and cold

Don't blame you for not wanting to go out in that kind of weather.  Unless you are hunting out of a blind where you can keep dry, it can be a miserable experience.  Tracking would be a lot more difficult, too.

sun came out this afternoon and warmed up to 41 degrees, going out about 4:00 PM for a couple of hours, saw one 3 times at about 5:30 PM in the same place during archery season, snorted at me and left without my ever getting a shot, but with the muzzle loader I don't have to be within 30 yards for a good shot. It looked to be nice young forkhorn
