Sounds like we need a study done to determine what is the best round to take out an Armadillo. Sounds like a .38 pistol is not the best solution for the job.

I've heard of them cutting Car tires when run over on the highways.

Last year a biologist told me they are the number one reason for the decline of turkey numbers in our area.  He said they're substantial nest raiders, even more so than wild hogs.

A .223 @ 3K+ fps will pierce most body armor at close range, just sayin......

As for the mother-in-law, I think there must be more to the story than reported.

Possums on the half shell.   Sorry, but I ain't buying either armadillo bullet ricochet story (yeah, particularly not the one involving the mother in law).   Sounds like a great physics problem to give to the high school kids:  If you shoot a .38 Special at 130 grains and 900 fps at a 2 kilogram armadillo with a coefficient of restitution of 0.4, how many times does the armadillo roll and will the slug have enough remaining energy to perforate the can of Blatz Light in the shooter's off hand?

We used to shoot those things all the time with .22s.  They jump a couple of feet in the air and take off.  Fun as all get out!!!

Yeah we've hit them with .22's also and never had a ricochet that I've noticed.
