Son is on an internship down in Austin TX for the summer & texted me about two weeks ago to ask me if I wanted to come down & go on a cobra hunt.  Apparently a young man had a captive cobra (legally) but had it & some other critters in his car & got bit - not sure if it was an accident or suicide.  The young man died, the snake got away.  This was about 2 miles from my son's apartment.  Had people pretty nervous for a few days until they found it dead along the road, not too far from where they found the kid slumped over in his car.  I'm pretty sure I'd have to change my pants if I saw that Gaboon viper or a cobra while I was out & about.

This is why, no matter if it's still warm or sub-freezing, I always wear my Muck Woody Armor snake boots when I go into the woods in Ga.!
Retired after 34 yrs. on Jacksonville (Fl.) Police Dept.  19 yrs. in patrol and last 15 yrs. in C.S.I.
Now I can hunt and go bass fishing anytime I want!  Started deer hunting in 2007 but, had many years as a teen hunting rabbits and squirrels.

I heard about this on a radio talk show (Rick and Bubba).  Reports say one bite from this snake will kill you in 15 minutes.  I'd like to know how it got from it's native Africa to the US.
If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

I'd sure love to see a post confirming that someone ran over that nasty critter.  Anyone?
