I had prveviously hunted for years, I mean years without ever getting a turkey. Now the last three years I have been blessed to get one each year. I guess it took me a long time to even begin to figure them out and then they change the rules! Hang in there, it will happen again soon!

There is a very definite learning curve where turkey hunting is involved.  I have been successful the last couple of years, but seems like I learn something new every time I go out.  You just have to stick with it, and eventually things will fall into place.  Last year I hunted for 3 days without hearing much gobbling going on.  On the 4th day, the toms were more vocal and I managed to call in two jakes.  I shot one of them, because I was in the middle of a home project, and wanted to get back at it.  Sure, it was a jake, but the fact that I was able to get him without the aid of a blind or decoy, just by calling (with my homemade box) made it all worthwhile.  I'm definitely ready to go again!  So, Flintlock, just get out there and try again, you won't be sorry.

I turkey hunted for close to 20 years on and off before I got my first one.   This year I've been seeing a lot but none want to come close enough to play.

My dad always told me that "It only takes one!" and those words have been been true to me my whole life and have carried me through many a hunting lull.
