New Years Big Eleven
« on: January 04, 2015, 07:54:19 PM »
Well new years day was my lucky day. Had shot at a big buck with the flintlock on Monday the 29th but couldn't find it. No hair or blood to signal a hit but I was sure I'd connected. Searched the next couple of days without any luck. Thursday I decided to give it one try and hit the jackpot. Was almost a half mile from my starting point when a bunch of crows started cawing and circling. Went to investigate and found my long lost buck. Wasn't much left as the coyotes consumed all edible meat. Couldn't believe the size of it. 11 points, 21 1/2 inch spread, 6 inch brow tines, 9 inch g-2s and 24 inch main beams. Glad I didn't give up.

Congratulation on a nice buck! And kudos on your integrity and ethics to follow up on the deer. Most would have quit long ago but your perseverance paid off. Nice work!

Awesome buck, too bad you weren't able to recover it earlier.

Good job on the recovery, that is one nice Potter County buck. We saw one like that the night before the opener of the season with the nice split brow tines just above camp on Elk Lick. Are you going to have it mounted or just a Euro type mount?
