Missed opportunity
« on: November 15, 2014, 09:22:52 PM »
Did something dumb today and lost an opportunity for a shot on a nice doe. (Archery) This is my forth day with my alarm going off at 3:30 and the second day where the wind chill was around 10 or less in the morning so this afternoon I was a little tired and fell lightly asleep in my stand. (I always use a safety harness). I heard a deer come running down the hill behind me and it stopped right behind my stand. I didn't see if it was a buck or doe but pretty sure a doe. I slowly turned around a saw another doe coming down the hill heading for my stand as well. Without thinking I slowly reached for the bow on the hangar while watching doe #2 come down the hill and she didn't see me get the bow. I held tight and waited for the does to pass under my stand. Instead they wandered off and I couldn't figure out why. Well, as I picked up the bow for doe#2 I forgot about doe#1 probably watching me reach for it. When the second doe came the first doe probably sent out a warning to her and off they go. I got careless and missed an opportunity for a shot!

Probably not too spooked.  Fooled their ears and noses, just got caught by the eyes.  Sure they'll be back through.

It's hard to move when there is more than one deer around. I have been caught several times that way.
At least you got to see some deer!!! @--0--0123
