Morning or Afternoon-Evening

Like to hear from all you hunters whether you think Whitetail Deer hunting is better in the mornings or afternoon-evening times. I'm hearing different opinions.  Thanks!

I primarily hunt early and late. When the rut gets going any legal time in the woods is a good time to be out. Horny deer don't punch a clock LOL

Hoytman - this is another one of those "it depends" answers.   ##$%#15  Early in the season, I do both early and late hunts, with success at both.  In the rut - be in the tree any time you can be in the tree, you just never know what you're gonna see.  Late in the season, particularly if we get a good bitter cold snap, afternoons are my preferred time to be out near a food source.  Suspect this varies based on where you're at geographically, what kinds of food sources and cover you have, etc.

Again, just depends. Early and late seems to work for maximum movement but during the rut, anytime is a good time as you just never know where they are going to be running.

I have always liked morning hunts better, loved seeing the world wake up.  Now that I have more time, I do hunt afternoons also.  In the morning, you can catch deer going back to their beds after feeding all night.  Late afternoons, you can catch them as they go out to feed.  The downside is that unless you drop one on the spot, you'll have to track it in the dark.  JMO

sorry to confuse the question, but the middle of the day isn't bad either.

if you are hunting food sources, evening is better. otherwise, you risk bumping them and education them

if you are hunting between food and bedding, either time would work well

hunting bedding areas is tough. you need everything perfect. do it only as a last resort or perfect conditions

our area I love to be out in the morning but evening has always produced better here.During the rut for a couple weeks morning improves but still better evening...can,t get close enough to most bedding as it is on neighbours and that is a no-no.
