Not what I expected to get on my trail cam
« on: August 15, 2014, 02:38:47 PM »
Pulled a trail cam this afternoon that overlooks a couple of my deer plots and this is what I found. Blue Heron I think

I see them in the pond 1/2 mile or so away on my line and in the neighbors pond also about 1/2 mile the other way, so I knew they were around, just would not expect to see a healthy looking one on the ground in the field

I have had 3 sandhill cranes coming into my backyard for over a month.  Apparently, they found the ripe mulberries to their liking, and they would come in twice a day, and spent an hour or so each time.  I tried to scare them off a few times, but 15 minutes later, they were back.  finally, the mulberries are done, and so the cranes are gone, too.  Hopefully, they'll forget about the berries next year (if they don't, hopefully, we'll have an open season on the cranes, wishful thinking here)

Must be the bird was looking for frogs in the grass, I know I often see small frogs in the grass along with field mice (the fox loves them) and garter snakes
