Swoop & A Miss...
« on: May 13, 2014, 06:14:39 AM »
This mornings walk about yielded a rare sight for me. I'm sorry I did not have a camera with me. I was watching a small group of Turkey's doing their circle dance. All of a sudden a bald eagle came diving down on the attack. It missed but caused a real uproar. Then the crows took over and drove it off. Turkey hunting the natural way. I have seen hen turkeys fly up to chase hawks away from their brood. I Have only witnessed an eagle attack once before on them. Some hens are already sitting but the party goes on for others. The foxes and yotes are going to start nest raiding soon so I'll stake out some sitting hens and lend a helping pill.

That is a cool and very rare site indeed! I tell people you just can't see these kind of things sitting in your living room!

It's fun to watch turkeys when they see a cat.  the hens are not afraid of the cat, especially if they have chicks.  The hens will confront and chase the cat away.
