« on: April 28, 2014, 10:48:05 AM »
There has been a hen wondering around about 3 acres of our wood lot scratching and eating every morning...she comes by the cams in front of one of my blinds at about 6:15- 6:30..I'm not sure what it is but the deer have been hitting our wood lot a lot too and munching big time...right next to a clover field....All I see are anemones violets leeks and trout lilys out there......The Toms are out but they never come near her..they fly down and go right to the lease next door...we can hunt till noon...and the Toms show up at 6-8 pm...We did see them at 11a.m. the other morning...but by 10 a.m, during hunting, my back or bladder @--0--0116 ##$%#12 @--0--0125...usually sends me back home...lol
I can't get the pm/am on cam fixed..times right though...here's a pretty sunset pic...

Heck, I was out this morning, had a couple Toms talking to me from way off.  Then 4 hens and a small Jake came up to me decoys, talked to them, purred scratched around.  I could have actually reached out and petted one of the hens she was so close.  The big boys never came in and I had to get to the office so I picked up about 9:45 am after the hens wondered off.

Persistence indeed! They can be as frustrating as anything! They don't read the books about them, don't watch the instructional DVD's and certainly don't watch the hunting shows where4 all they do is cluck-cluck and the toms just come running! They don't know how they are supposed to act so we have to hunt them hard with a lot of patience! Hope their schedule turns around soon for you!

Hang in there, Growalot,  last year I hunted for 4 days straight, saw lots of toms, but couldn't get them to come in close.  On the 5th morning, I was able to tag one.
