First bow kill
« on: April 23, 2014, 08:22:44 AM »
Indiana turkey season opened this morning. I have been seeing three Jake's and one tom on the same farm my daughter got her first tom on last Saturday during the youth season. This is my third year turkey hunting and I really wanted to take one with a bow.

This morning I got set up and once I thought the birds have already flew down I called and got one to gobble at me right away along with a hen.

I called a little more and I seen a hen pop over the hill about 100 yards away. Right behind her was the three Jake's. The hen got to about 50yards of me and hit the woods and the Jake's started to follower her. Once the Jake's got to the edge of the woods I cut loose on my call.

The three Jake's turned and came running right in to me.

I got my first turkey with my bow, it's a Jake, but I am very proud of it. I will post pics latter today.

What a RUSH doing it with a bow. I'm not sure I can handle doing it again, LOL

Here he is. I forgot to mention the shot was a long shot of about 15 yards, I'm surprised I didn't miss since how worked up I was. LOL
