Opening day a bust
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:44:32 AM »
5:30 am right where I wNt to be. At 11:30 started to pack back out. No one bird nor call. A few tree rats and a few deer molting their winter coats but not one turkey. I Will try again Friday & Saturday. It was cool and warmed up and happy no rain but sad as there was little activity of any sort.

NJ no luck. So, I ordered a Kee Kee whistle, a glass pot call and a woodhaven striker to add to my inventory. I saw a lot of videos on YouTube that indicated Kee Kee calls work in spring. Apparently some folks thought it was a fall call only. My spot has been a bust the last two years and is the only place I have to hunt as I will not try the over crowded state game land. Permits are zone specific to boot so I am limited to one zone. I have not even seen the bears like I used to. So, I will try different techniques to see if I can stir them up. I will try this Friday and Saturday.

Hang in there! Things will turn around soon. Just like deer hunting, patience is the key. Let us know what happens!
