old photo...2010 buck...another boxing day buck.

I have been lucky enough to shoot four ten points in the last three seasons which I have never done before. This one was in 2010 on boxing day with my excaliber.I had been seeing him for a while but was after a twelve point that never gave me a close enough chance so on a darn cold boxing day this guy came out and I was down to the last week so took the shot.As fate would have it the twelve came out while I was waiting to climb down so I got to watch him feed and walk away for another year.He was shot this past fall by a neighbour but as I said in a previous story he was apparently green when they skinned him out.

He's a dandy. If you had him mounted let's see the pic of him on the wall.

hey growalot....the one from 2010 was around 215 dressed ....this years was a bigger deer but not actually weighed...taxidermist aged him at seven years...we rarely see any here over the 240lb. dressed weight but an area one hour west of here consistently has bucks weighed in their big buck contests hitting the 270 lb. range....some real big hogs there with huge racks and usually non typical.....most three year olds break the 200 lb. mark

I live in ag country and rarely see deer here  in the finger lakes that big...We get some nice racks but body weight seldom is that impressive. Then again we rarely see a deer over 3 yrs old with the hunter #'s. That is changing slowly and more ppl are holding off on the young bucks. Again Congrats very nice!
