My son buck
« on: November 04, 2013, 09:09:20 AM »
Saturday at around noon my son seen a yearling in the back yard and he told me that he was going to hunt our yard tonight. I told him that since his mom was home to watch over him from the house I was going to go to another farm and hunt then.

About 2o minutes before dark my phone goes off and I get a text from "Mom" saying "you need to come home. Andrew just shot a 6pt."

Once the deer around me left I got down and drove home to hear about the hunt from my son.

He told me he was watching a doe with two yearlings coming in to him, but they would never get into a good open area for him to take the shot and they just turned and walked away. He told me that after the doe and yearlings left he seen another deer walking in the woods towards him so he got ready. He said when it stepped out in a clearing in the woods he seen it was a six point and then he just started to shake.

He told me the buck got to 18yds from him and he had to wait for ever for him to turn sideways, but he did and he let the arrow fly. He told me that he heard it running in the woods and then he heard a loud crash.

We had no problem tracking him the 50yds he ran with good bubbly blood. I am very proud of him for making a great shot on his first deer kill with out me beside him telling him what to do. I am sure many more deer are in big trouble in the very near future. LOL

Congrats to the young hunter!  Obviously, he has been listening to Ole Dad.  Good job to both of you!
