« on: September 13, 2013, 06:54:37 AM »
Tomorrow morning is our opening of archery season. The weather is cooling down a little bit should have low's in the 60's and a high in the low 80's with low humidity. Everything is pack and I'll be headed out in a few hours. Let the fun begin...

In the stand Saturday morning at 0630. It was 59 degrees and just a wonderful morning to be in the woods. Never saw any deer but the woods were alive with turkeys. The pin oaks are starting to fall pretty good. Did see a nice buck cross the main camp road at 1330. One of the guys saw a six pointer and two small does. We do need some rain things are getting very dry. Food plots coming up and looking good at this point.

Sounds like a good time partner!  Our season opened on 9/15 but it was to hot. I usually don't start hunting until mid Oct.  Good Luck!

Just an overview of my season to this point. During archery season I passed on a nice doe at 20 yards with my new crossbow as she had two young one with her. Had an opportunity to harvest a young six pointer and passed. Our muzzleloader week I again passed on a doe with young one with her. Opening of gun season was I passed on a five pointer.

This pass weekend we finally got some cold weather and the deer were really on the move. Friday afternoon at 1730 had a small five point feed on acorns for about an hour. Saturday morning was 32 degrees. At 0805 let a nice 7 pointer walk, saw four does at 0945, saw two more does at 1115 and the seven pointer that I let walk came back at 1245. What a great morning to be in the woods. Saw two does that evening and hunted Sunday morning and saw a small doe at 0940. All in all he rut is right around the corner. The young bucks are on the move and I found several scrapes and a lot of new rubs. I'll be heading out Wednesday morning to camp and won't return until November 12th. I've got a few on my hit list as well as a big 10 pointer that one of the guys have a picture of that I had on camera last year. A few of the bucks I'm looking for...
