Report, Day 1
« on: September 07, 2013, 09:03:49 AM »
Great to be back in the woods! Saw a doe around 7:30 Am but too far to shoot. Didn't see another deer from the stand until right at dark. It was getting too dark to shoot so I decided to put my arrow back in the quiver and was about to put the quiver on the bow and then she appears! She was coming up the trail right below my stand and was just about to come up when I was trying to get my arrow back out and hang up the quiver. She heard the noise and froze. Stayed a minute and them ran around 40 yards and stopped. Stayed for a minute and then with a few bounds she was gone! Just as well. I had already decided it was time to quit for the day and I didn't want to take a bad shot when it was too dark to shoot correctly. I probably would have reevaluated the darkness and see if I could get a good shot or not but what was done was done. The deer around here move at the last possible moment right before dark. ALways have. No matter where yo put a stand, they still appear right at dark! It was good to get back up a tree and start to get back into the rythmn!
