My Biggest Buck....
« on: August 09, 2013, 08:36:50 PM »
The story of Mr. Tall Tines...

I almost didn't go out hunting the morning of November 18, 2011 because the wind was blowing a steady 25mph with gust to 40mph and the temperatures were in the mid 30's. The alarm went off at 4 am and I laid in bed until 5:00. I thought to myself, "you're not going to have a chance at all if you stay home". So, I got up, got dressed, and drove the 30 miles to our family farm. Nothing moved all morning until 7:56am when this monster walked through the timber. He was in the timber to stay out of the wind and on the search for does.
We had never seen this buck during daylight hours before that day.  I have one trail cam pic of him chasing a doe at 2:30am on Oct 26, 2011.
On this morning he was walking by me at 60 yards. I tried to grunt him into bow range, but the wind was just to loud and he could not hear me. He was rapidly getting out of sight so I hung up the bow and picked up the 30-30 and fired a shot. After a long tracking job through timber, a 400 acre bean field and two ditches I finally found him at 1:00pm.
This is by far the largest buck EVER taken on our West Central Missouri family farm! He has a total of 15 points that are 1" or longer. His G2's and G3's are all around 13" long. His left brow tine has 3 points going up and 2 kickers going out the back. He has been gross scored at 181". Now I'm looking for one of his offspring that I have game cam pics of also.
Take your kids hunting and you won't have to hunt for your kids!

That's a great buck!  I really like those tall tines.  How much did he weigh?  I hope you had him mounted.  Show us some more pics!
