turnip plot question
« on: June 23, 2013, 02:32:42 PM »
I sprayed my plots with generic Roundup and 24D on Friday. I will be putting Turnips in these plots and want to know if a 2 week wait is enough or if I should wait 3 weeks before planting the Turnips. Thanks for the help.

2 should be fine. I've done it several times w/o issue. if you are planting this early, you will need to add nitrogen at least once more after planting. turnips love nitrogen. i'm planting mine the 2nd or 3rd weekend in july and i'm in northern WI

Yari is right.  I believe you could do it in as little as a week if you want.  When glyphosate hits the dirt it goes away.  You should be good for sure after 10 days.  Good Luck and keep us posted!!!!

You might check your seeds. So many seeds these days are roundup ready seeds. Do everything at one time.

throw in a little clover with them. Clover adds nitrogen to the soil and will help the turnips..

Two will be more than ample amount of time. They tell us farmers 3 to 5 days on 24d depending on if it is going to rain in that window. If you get a rain wait at least 5 days.
