When hunting close to my house I had seen what I thought was the same tom many, many times.
(Very light colored feathers on the end of his tail). Many times he would fly down in the morning and off he would go with his "girl friends". I would make a new plan, and so would he. I had a few close calls but never got him in range. The one thing that was consistant was where he was roosting. I don't like to go into the roosting area but time was getting short. So last eve. I left my house at 6:45 to try to be at his roost before he got there. As I was walking a field edge I saw two birds making their way through a winter wheat field towards the roost site. And one was the tom I was after. I knew there was no way I would get there in time to set up my blind before they got there. I dropped my blind, and chair and took off using the woods for cover. I got to where I thought they would cross from one field to the other and just waited. Ten min. later he came right through that gap. I was 26 yards away and made the shot @ 7:15 12 3/4" beard, 1 1/8" spurs.

Congrats on a great bird! You are very correct in one thing you said, we have a game plan and so do they! Usually they are just not on the same page but this time your plan worked!

Got to love it when a plan comes together...great story. I've never taken a turkey with a bow. What type of broadhead do you use?
