I never seem to have that problem here DPD...not sure if it's because I have much more range in calling... tone and pitch because I call naturally....but normally I can call and photograph the whole month of April and still nail them opening week.....It gives me a good Idea of who's in the area...besides its always from the house and I hunt deep in the woods...so far he's the first to sound off...but that might entice others to come into the area......mostly I get hens to come in looking around which is another plus...Hens get very riled at my calling for some reason.... win win for me

Nice work, but be careful. He will become call shy.

snorts right about call shy, that's what I meant if you call them in too much ahead of the season and they come in to nothing they do become call shy ;D

Thanks guys...I'm going to let you in on a secret...I live in a high density hunting area...so these birds have ppl on all sides of me hunting them...now there is only one farmers field that has and food on it...hay field...and the rest are bare silage chopped corn fields...I on the other hand, have beef bank,WR,WW and clover/alfalfa plots....
The birds don't get call shy on my voice calling but do on slate and box calls...which I do use  a lot during the month before in order to get them use to the food source, get pics and make them a bit shy to the calls....That way I can sit with minimal calling...save, to get the hens in feeding off the plots and wait for the Toms to follow...all the while listening to the woods fill up with the sound calls from all around...

That may sound mean...but it's a strategy...one that's work for me for a long time....got to know your area birds lol
