I really hate to make this post but here goes. Logan and I didnt see anything Friday afternoon and only 2 doe Saturday morning. Saturday evening Logan wanted to hunt with his grandpa so I go back to the bow stand where big boy has been seen. I sit all afternoon and see a couple of deer cross the north side of the field. My anticipation was high the entire time. Then at last light a yote comes through and my anticipation goes down. It's now too dark to shoot so I lower my bow. I am half way down the tree and hear a twig snap. A doe is coming down the trail not 10 yds from the tree I'm now stuck to. She's heading west so I look back up the trail to the east. There he comes. All I could see was antler. He follows the doe down the trail and there I am stuck to the tree like spider man less than 10 yds away. To make matters worse he stops and gives me a really good look. For ten minutes or so I watched him and the doe flirt around with each other and they eventually walked out of sight.

They both passed right in front of my tail cam so I hope to have a pic to share soon. I didnt take the time to pull the card. I wanted to get out of there quickly and quietly. I think it was the same buck my feeder ran off last week. The rut is in full swing. I couldnt hunt this morning. We had to get home for church. But dad is there and I hope he puts one down.

I hope the does are still teasing the boys.  I'm off to hunt this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If they boys are still chasing the girls around this should be a good weekend.  Will check back in Sunday evening sometime.  Y'all have a good one!

I hunted all thru thanksgiving weekend and saw no deer at all. It's like they vanished so I'm thinking breeding has pretty much taken place. Until mid December when the secondary rut happens I'll focus on food sources and hope to pattern some doe's by then. There is a monster buck on the place and he has a nice spot reserved on my wall. After 2 close encounters with him I don't see myself taking a different buck this year. I'm after him and have until Jan 15 to get close again.
