Saturday Oct 20th Opening day Rifle season...

In the cook shack at 0500 making coffee for the gang... we've got 13 folks ready to head out.

In the stand at 0655...heard a shot at 0740 that I know came off our property. At 0805 saw a small button buck feeding on acorns for about 15 minutes. At 0910 saw a nice doe working up a rigde but could just catch bits of moveemnt on the trick stuff. At 1020 saw antlers moving throught the same thick area as the doe earlier but was unable to make him out. Graet opening morning about 44 degrees and still. The woods a very dry and we could use some rain...

Saturday Oct 20th

Got back to camp around 11:30 and the shot I heard was one of our members that took a small 7 pointer his biggest but to date. It was nice to see our first blood on the pole for the season.

My evening hunt didn't see anything however several members saw deer over the weekend and things are starting to heat up as the deer are really starting to move. We had a big Spaghetti dinner and it was just great to get the season started with the guys....I'll be back at it nextFriday...

Tuesday Oct 23

Hunted this evening behind my house. Was in the stand at 1600 with no wind to speak of. At 1730 saw a small spike working up the ridge eating acorns. About 20 minutes before dark had a 4 pointer come in behind me and check a nice scrape. There is a nice rub line leading up to the scrape area and I'd really like to see the buck making those rubs. All in all a great evening in the woods....
