Oct 31st I went to the state land and called in a 130+ inch buck but to thick to get a shot. (used a rattle bag). Nov 1st I hunted a our land and had a nice 8 point walk by at 80 yards I grunted but he wouldnt come any closer.   Nov 3rd opening day of rifle season I spent most of the day hunting with my Dad. He shot a 110 inch 10 point (his biggest ever) at 180 yards with his favorite rifle. He was pleased.  Over the next 7 days I hunted hard and passed on 5 small bucks and 6 or 8 fawns.    Then on Nov 11th we left for a 5 day bowhunt in SD. The rut was rockin and on Nov 13th I shot my deer. He followed a scent line I put down and gave me a perfect 45 yard shot. The Rage broadhead did an awsome job and he ran 40 yards before laying down. The buck then got back up and slid about 50 yards down hill and died. We rolled him to my pickup on a cart that worked great. The deer is a 8 point that broke his brow tine, over 20 inches wide outside and an easy 200 pounds. I'm proud to have him and have started the European mount allready. My friend Tim passed on a couple bucks but just did'nt get a chance at a buck he could shoot. We used a decoy and called in 4 bucks for Tim he passed on the first 3 and the last buck a 130 inch 8 point got nervous berfore Tim could get a shot. I on the other hand was 25 yards from the buck but did'nt have my bow.  We may go back in December to continue Tims hunt and thin out the Coyotes.

2013 hunting season. I baited bears and had 2 coming in but I didn't hunt. In Oct I shot a nice doe with the bow. The meat went to two couples that really appreciate the meat. 4 of us went to Colorado for Elk and filled out. I shot a 5x4 meat bull. During our rifle season I passed on 5 bucks and shot a 120 in 9 point. On Nov 19th I went to SD for a 5 day bow hunt. My hunting partner backed out 2 weeks before I left so I went by myself. I had a chance at a monster but I got pinned down by a small buck and I couldn't close the distance. I left for home 1 day early and didn't get a deer.

Sounds like a great season...congrats on the harvests!  I went to Colorado on an elk bowhunt trip a few years back with some buddies.  Loved it up there.  I can't wait to get back up there when the kids are done with college!
