Ya know I feel in someways Im one of the luckiest people in the world.. When it comes to hunting I have been fortunate in so many aspects I could hardly count all of them.  But yet I still found myself feeling something was missing.  Last spring I took my son and nephew to Kansas on a turkey hunt and I have to say I finally figured it out.  Ive always taken my son hunting and this was the first hunt for my nephew. My 11 year old had been shooting his bow very regularly and consistently.  He was very clear he wanted to do this with a bow.  I have to say this was the greatest hunt of my life.. My son took his first archery turkey and my nephew made the first kill of his life on his very first hunt. I truly had more fun than any hunt I have ever been on and I never took my bow out of the case.  I just ran the camera and captured the memory forever.. I finally think I know what it was I have always been looking for.  Now just waiting for deer season I will so have my hands full with the two of them... And of course after the hunt boys will be boys so we had to take sniper pictures lol...

It is always great to be there with youngsters when they accomplish what they have dreamed of doing in the field.  I do not have children of my own but I have taken a few young ladies on their first hunts and was there when they dropped their first deer, rabbit, squirrel and turkey.  It is a wonderful feeling!

Great post Fellis. Serving others is a great gift. Especially kids. There is nothing that compares to seeing that kind of joy in a kids eyes. When you remove the focus from yourself the world is an entirely different place full of joys you would otherwise never know. Keep up the great work with them kids. I hope you share your experiences with us as your season unfolds.

Without a doubt, the most memorable hunts of my life were with my son and my friends kids when they took their first deer, turkey or whatever. Fortunately, we took pictures and videos and we replay them many times over. As the kids got older, the feedback they gave us was that this was a time and memory that they would never forget. They play the videos all the time, keep the pictures close to them always, and some day, will return the favor and take their young ones as well. Good post Fellis, brought back lots of memories.

Great post!!! I agree with you and everyone that has posted here about how much MORE fun it is when one of the little ones are the ones doing the hunting, or in my case, fishing. I only have one girl out of the 4 that is into hunting much...but now fishing is another story....but the same scenario. Great pics!
