Ok as usual Im way late and way short...but during the VA spring Gobbler season I had the pleasure to hunt with my close friend, Hunting buddy, and TH member BP at some land I hunt. Big surprise BP made it to property that is 10 min from my house b4 I did. WE had to run and gun..after an hour we sat down in a swamp bottom that I had called in a bird a week prior but couldnt seal the deal..hoping for revenge on that Tom we set up and began calling. after enjoying a nice morning and watching several deer including a buck I hope to hang on my wall this fall BP suddenly whispered that I had managed to call that same Longbeard in. And he was staring right at her, After moving my pack and convincing stiff muscles that didnt want to move into action, I managed to wrap around the tree to find out thatsadly BP was the only one that could see the bird. Unfortunately he wasnt willing to cross trails with the buck, and come in any closer. So he lives to see  another season come and go. BTW he comes in silent. After striking out on this longbeard BP and I attempted to call in a bird for another close friend of mine who is now deployed in Afganistan and his son, yet again without a successful harvest. All in all it was an awesome morning in the woods with close friends and it just barely came in 2nd to an earlier hunt, the week before were I originally called in the Longbeard  BP and I sought with my brother in law, who is just getting serious about  hunting, and was truly amazed by the fact that while I was calling only every 20 min or so, that that Longbeard (with 3 hens in attendance) came in on a string right to Us. I had a great time and was truly honored both times to be able to share the outdoors with some great friends and also a true American hero My good friend Olaf...May you return to us from defending our freedom the same way you left us...hope the birds are more cooperative next year brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ##$%#113  @--0--0109 and may you not get misoriented lol...wish the anti's could experience and understand the joy of spending a great morning in the woods with close friends and the joy of a bird booming back to your pathetic attempt at a call. Too bad they dont understand it's the thrill of the chase shared with good friends rather than the harvest that makes a great hunt! Even though Noone I hunted with harvested a bird, this was one of the best Spring Gobbler seasons i've ever had, and I hope to pursue the mighty Thunder Bird with everyone I hunted with again next spring! ...or in olaf's case the spring of 2014 when he returns to us all!

BeaglePup:
It was a great Morning and too bad that bird did not come closer.  The bird we were tag calling for Olaf was the only bird I heard gobble hard that morning.  We heard a few others at daybreak but they only sounded off once.  Talking to everyone at Summer Blast seems there are a lot of folks who had silent birds this year.

I heard a lot of hens this spring but not many Toms , by the way Thursday my shorthair managed to put up three hens and about 30 poults  that she jumped . have to get her to point but she really gets excited when she sees them .
