Was out in Colorado 5 years ago and had a chance to score on a huge 6x6. It was late in the afternoon, around 1pm and I was just sitting eating my lunch when this bull came right out to my left and at 23 yards. I did have my bow across my lap, the bull just stood there and I could not move a muscle. I got the bow into my hands and was waiting for him to take two more steps so that I could draw on him. The bull kept testing the air and when he picked up his head his whale tails extended back beyond his hind quarters. Then it happened the wind shifted to where my scent was going directly at him and it took all of 1 second for him to vanish. If I would have been 25 minutes earlier I would have been ready for him, I had just moved out of my hiding place to eat lunch and to stretch some. The boys I was out hunting with told me that, that would be the best time to eat and stretch some because Elk don't move during the heat of the day. WRONG.

Cool pictures! The family and I got to see several Elk while in the Smokey Mountains a few years ago. I am going to have to go on an Elk hunt some year.

I would love to go back on an Elk hunt again. If I ever get my back and legs working good again I would really think about it. I still have the GPS coordinates for the first Elk encounter.
