year of 2012 for growalot....
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:12:33 AM »
2012 started out unusually warm and then went to a late cold and heavy snow....taking out trees and some fruits...but as of June much has managed to recover...I did my usual late season squirrel hunting and froze some nice fat boys...Yotes were a no show in flesh nor camera...but the increased Fox sitings tells me that they may have moved out of the area a bit....This could help to explain my wonderful turkey opener and being able to call in 5 Toms and most with single hens bring them in....I took a Nice 20# 10" bearded one with 1" spurs....he was to be my only for I passed on several Jakes...and called in many more hens....I had one hunt busted due to a yahoo with a spotting light standing in the neighbors oat field spotting my tree tops...found out that the flash light I'd seen flicker their position was actually the farm hunting...and he had words with the young trespasser with the spot light...will address this issue in a month with the other  new neighbor that we border...the kid claimed to have their permission...that might explain last deer seasons late night spot light in my woods.....so far trees and plantings are doing well and I'm only a couple of weeks behind....lol...Hopefully time will allow me some varmint (chucks) hunting and well the crows are driving me mad...need to check season dates on them  @--0--0137...

With or without premission to be in the neighbors field, still questionable if spotlight would be legal. DEC could be interested if the kid had any type of weapon on or with him

He claimed to the farmer he had permission from the other neighbor to hunt turkey...last fall another neighbor called and then went out to patrol because they saw lights in my woods from their back deck...we all met up on the back side and watched the lights rapidly moving along the edge of neighbors land headed for next road....I had a chat with these new ppl when they first bought the camp...no problems the first two years.... ##$%#1119...It never lasts....so I'll be chatting with them again...though I made my position very clear the first time in a friendly way...now it won't be quit so friendly...just getting down to business @--0--0137

Outside of coons and yokes, I do not know of anything else in NY that you would hunt with lights at least not legally, of course just before daylight could be going to a stand and just after dusk could be returning from a stand, but somehow this does sound like either of these to me
