...I went out this morning for just a little while...My thermacell usually works on the no see-ums and blk flys...not today!!...Of course left cam at home because I went to an open blind and they called for rain...never came :mda: ...So it's getting light and a doe and yearling appear in front of me...I'm in one of the very long brush blinds and I closed the end with a jake blind...the yearling walks over...into the blind and sticks her head over the jake blind...lol....I'm trying not to laugh and blink..her wet blk nose is 3ft from my face...thermacell is smoking and then it dawns on her somethings not right...so she backs out...then comes back 2x's and finally walks away...then Mom comes over the other end of blind and does that Oh I'm feeding ....gotcha! head pops up thing...6 times...stands there for a bit and she walks away...Dang weather men...could have had that video

I heard gobbling from area I hunted opening day...then up on the ridge in front of me ..but he walked the other way into gully..didn't see a single hen...then 4 Jakes came in quiet and there wasn't 8ins. between them and that's how they fed in a clover patch 40 yrds away....looked like one big body with four heads bopping around...they left and I just couldn't handle it any more....must have had a bad pad in the thermacell..but put it in just before I left :fie: looks like the last snow storm knocked out the mosquitoes though...not a one....No bird but great morning...scent away is great!

NY has a 2 tom limit in spring...only one per day...even if those birds had separated I wouldn't have tried to call them in closer for a shot...I use a 20ga...I've seen much bigger mature birds and they will be nice future birds @--0--0137....Hoping for a cool down as well......it's pretty warm out there...went out in a long sleeve shirt and light pants at 4:30am...carrying my rain gear

Close encounters of the "cool" kind!    I love getting that close to anything!    Well, maybe not the no-see'ems.    Put your cam in a ziploc bag and you can keep it with you every time, grow.    Would have liked to have seen those deer.
They're ALL trophies...it's just that some are bigger than others!

Duh TX...didn't think of that @--0--0116...just came in...not a single gobble today but I called in 3 hens and a red fox...closed my eyes for just a moment and opened them to see the Fox walking away from me about 8ft....We had one rip roaring.... dog hiding under the bed cry... storm last night...another was due this morning but just sprinkled..and over cast...Also had two buck come in but down wind of me ...and I was running late so no shower before I left... the lead deer picked up his head looked right at my position and walked away @--0--0117...no cam either but...Gee guess what I discovered?...my cell takes video!!..really 3 years had no idea...until I went to snap a pic of one of the hens and I see recording as she moved past...hmmm...now how to get it off phone and on PC @--0--0129
