Biggest Fish Caught in PA
« on: March 24, 2012, 11:08:36 AM »
The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission has posted the Biggest Fish caught in 2011 by fish type. Very interesting to me that some fishermen would even take the time to report some of the fish taken to the commission and how do they verify the size weight and length. Check it out. http://www.fish.state.pa.us/bigfish.htm

Where would they have to go and how far to take one to report and weight one?

I don't know, I wouldn't take the time to report it. I either throw the little ones back or they go into the skillet. Not much time for paper work  --099-780

Seems like it would be a lot of work for bragging rights! I'll just stay with a picture for a frame in the den.

Large Mouth are not a major game fish in PA. Small mouth are plentiful in most waters, and the major rivers. Stripers in Raystown Lake, the largest inland body of water in PA is the striper center. Trout is about the most sought after species and the fish commission along with most sportsmens clubs stock streams and lakes across the state every year. The Great Lakes, Erie and Ontario are where the salmon and steelhead are mosty caught along with all their feeder tributaries.

I would never think of going to the bother of reporting some of the smaller fish listed, but still interesting to look at.

Seems to me that Massachusetts use to have a similar list and I would expect that many states would have similar lists
