Red Stag hunt in New Zealand
Two Tales:
Dutch, you is one lucky feller...I hunted them here in the states on preserves and they are a trip..they are also a very dangerous deer...they are born with an attitude and it just gets worse from there...Hinds can run up to 400 pounds. Stags upward to 700 (mature animals)..they are put together just like any other deer so the vitals and "Sweet Spots" are the same...and as with any large game critter shot distance and retained KE are critical as is bullet preformance (look who I'm telling this to LOL)..any way I wish I could do this hunt...I'm not big on the trophy thing..meat is my main objective for the hunt...but each to their own..that said you'll never eat any venison that is better than red deer...they used to allow you to import the meat back to the US (Red stag only) from NZ is that still the case..
Have fun..and stay in shape, them "hills" in NZ are tricky...
