I was out putting wood in the furnace this morning and it sure sounded like spring. The toms were sounding off all around. It was 42 degree's and it had sprinkled all night. Sure got me in the mood to hunt ole tom!!!

Yep. The boys club has taken on some female members. Six tom's all fanned out this morning and strutting around in a circle while the girls wandered off.

I have seen the boys strutting and heard them sounding off.  They have been doing it around here in VA for over a week!

I hope the turkeys aren't as confused as most everything else!    Crazy weather.     I have more green grass now than I've had since April of LAST year!     Temps in the upper 70's some days!     Had over a foot of rain since December.    Some trees are showing signs of budding.     It may not be spring on the calendar, but..............
They're ALL trophies...it's just that some are bigger than others!

The gobblers will be in the mood from now till May, but the hens still won't recept until the time is right and the nightly temps are actually halfway decent.... I think if we had several weeks worth of solid weather like we did last year, then the hens would recept and we would have a screwed up season just like last year.

As long as we have a cool snap here and there then we should be ok til season
Hunting is a way of life: Love it, Teach it, Live it. But most of all.... RESPECT IT and pass it on!

It has been mild. But Old Man Winter just sent a reminder today; 50-60MPH winds plus snow bursts.
