Thank you all for the welcome, and special thanks to growalot for showing me the trail that led to here!

A little bit about me.......

I live in northern Illinois, in western Kane County in a rural area on 5 acres with my wife, horses and dogs. We have one grown daughter who graduated from Iowa State University last spring and ACTUALLY GOT A JOB IN HER MAJOR!!!  PRAISE THE LORD!   ##$%#115

I'm entering my 6th decade, and have been a woodsman for 48 of them.  Fishing, hunting (big game, waterfowl, upland birds, etc.) and trapping have been part of my life since then. I don't small game hunt much anymore, probably because in Illinois there isn't much of that left (other than squirrels), and after training  my own bird dogs for many years and hunting WILD birds it's just not the same to hunt on a preserve...not that there's anything wrong with that!

I'm pretty much a deer hunter only now, and in the past 7 of them I've taken to stillhunting about 90% of the time, gun and bow. You'll learn more about me on that front in my coming posts.

In the last 8 years I've also gone back to shooting a recurve like when I started (back then there was no such thing as "traditional" archery...it was just plain 'ol "archery"...and YUP, I'm OLD!!!). This has added a whole new twist to bowhunting for me, and made it "fun" again.  Now I'm addicted all over again!

Glad to meet you all, and here's to some upcoming conversations!

Small indeed!  I live on Beith just east of 47!  I go into Maple Park a lot. I buy gas at Casey's because it s usually a good .10 to .15 (or more) a gallon cheaper than in Elburn.
