Cool pics! Glad you all had fun. The lathe thing is matching the size of the axle with the close tolerance hole = less wobble, machining the outside is basically trueing the wheel up so it is the same distancefrom the center of the axle hole to the outside of the wheel all the way around. This keeps it from wobbleing up and down as well as side to side. Glad you did so well fair and square. In our troop when I was in we bought them through the scouts. Now you can get kits at Lowes and Hobby Lobby.

It was a good day for my son Tristan. He was undefeated and won his troops event. Now on to the district race.

Hey Russcat,
We took 3rd and 4th.  Not what we were hoping for but we had much more important matters to tend to.  I usually spend the last 2 nights tuning/breaking in the cars with the boys before the race but my next door neighbors house burned down that night and our time was spent helping them out.  Pretty scary stuff.  Kids totally understood when i told them that their cars werent going to be as fast as normal.  They knew our prioprities were elsewhere at the moment.  I guess they paid attention in scouts about helping others being more important.
They still had a great time racing their friends.
